Polycom, Inc. April 2000 to January 2014
Global UC Architect – ( 3+ years) Program Manager for the Avaya relationship, focusing on maintaining
the technical interoperation between different platforms and protocols. Managed weekly bug scrub meetings with
Avaya and Polycom engineers and developers, identifying and resolving issues revealed in testing with the latest
platforms. Responsible for the Avaya DevConnect relationship and membership, where the focus was on validation
testing of multiple platforms and systems, interworking with various Avaya call control platforms. I was
accountable for the timely creation of test plans, test documentation, coordinating equipment configuration,
shipping and testing. Reviewing editor of the official DevConnect Application Notes prior to publication and
posting.
During this timeframe I was also responsible for the technical architecture and interoperability programs with two
other Alliance partners; BroadSoft and their BroadWorks call control platform, and IBM, with their SameTime 8
and 9 offerings. Similar testing and interop responsibilities were associated.
Additional responsibilities included Assured Design network architecture challenges, mapping out network
topology and interoperability schemas, with the focus being on multi-vendor scenarios. Defining the testing
requirements, creating appropriate dial plans and routing paths, and producing network and call flow drawings.
This included writing and documenting test plans, and running the tests, prior to making recommendations to
internal development testing. Recently the team focused on virtual editions of our platform solutions, and we
were involved in testing the deployment, creating images of systems, and validating the documentation we
created.
Systems Engineer (I – V) – ( 10+ years) As an SE, my primary role was to be the trusted advisor for the
customer, injecting the voice of reason during customer briefings, explaining technical details of our capabilities
with regards to their specific business challenges. I have been responsible for architecting unified communications
networks, including multipoint bridging and scaling, management systems, provisioning capabilities, recording and
streaming, and firewall traversal. I have supported account reps with customers of all sizes, from SMB to global
multinationals, and have provided knowledge and guidance to many different industries. Examples include global
pharmaceuticals, insurance companies, banking and financial powerhouses, energy & power companies,
publishing, education, medical and media giants.
I have also pioneered roles such as the Channel SE, acting as a dedicated technical resource for our top resellers;
and Network Systems Division Technical Trainer, leading multi-day certification courses for our partners and
resellers, for both Technical and Sales qualification. I have been directly involved in networks and architecture
design since 1995, starting with POTS and ISDN, H.320 and T.120. Then moving to H.323, and SIP, now we have SVC
and H.264, and emerging capabilities like WebRTC and H.265.

Systems Engineer - In my role with PictureTel, I was responsible for supporting and assisting the sale
reps, to remove the technical obstacles that challenged sales. Additionally, I supported the reseller partners in
their sales efforts, using the PictureTel demonstration facilities I managed & maintained. I presented our product
portfolio, assisted in demonstrations, deployed and configured evaluation equipment on customer sites.
Performed technical telephone support roles, as well as attending and supporting trade shows and industry
events.
BancTec Service Corp. Jan. 1994 – March 1995
Field Service Engineer – performed next day on-site service for Dell computers, coordinating customer
appointments, pickup and installation of replacement parts. Trained on new videoconferencing gear from
PictureTel. Performed installations, next day service, configuration, customer training and orientations for the
entire line of video systems from PictureTel across the Northeast Region.
